Fr Terence Howes
A PRIEST OF THE Brentwood diocese, Terence Howes was born in August 1924 in Birmingham. He served in the Royal Navy and was part of the Dunkirk landing. His navy skills were put to good use when he later became chaplain to the London Fire Boat "Massey Shaw".
After studies at Osterley, and Oscott College, Birmingham, he was ordained in March 1963. He served as assistant priest in Hainault and Aveley, before becoming parish priest in Meldon, Grays, Chadwell Heath, and Southend. He died in Southend General Hospital on 14 November.
Br James Crease A MEMBER OF THE Christian brothers, Br James Vincent Crease died suddenly of a heart attack in Freetown, Sierra Leone, last month. He was 77.
Born in Liverpool, he was educated at St Patrick's School and St Edward's College, before joining the Christian Brothers in 1931. After pursuing his university studies he taught in various schools of the order, in particular St Brendan's College, Bristol, and St Aidan's, Sunderland. He became Provincial Bursar on retiring from teaching and spent his last two years working in the Order's Mission House in Sierra Leone.
