Fr. Francis Law Ryan

Fr. Francis Law Ryan, a priest of St. Joseph's Society, Mill Hill, died on Friday in a military hospital in Cyprus,

Born 48 years ago at Clayton-leMoors. Lancs, Fr. Ryan was ordained at Mill Hill in 1928. He went to Uganda, East Africa, in October of the same year and worked there as a missionary until May, 1952, when he volunteered to serve as a chaplain to African troops in the Canal Zone

Fr. I, Hurley Fr. Joseph Hurley, of the Institute of Charity (Rosminians) died on Saturday at St. Winifricts Hospital, Cardiff, aged 76 Fr. Hurley, born in Cardiff, joined the Rosminians at Rugby and studied in Italy, where he was ordained in 1903. After teaching at Ratcliffe College. Leicester. he became parish priest of Loughborough. Thence he went to Rugby as parish priest, and then to St. Michael's, Newport. From 1935 to 1947 he was rector of St. Peter's, Roath, Cardiff.

He was chairman of the Catholic Schools Group Managers and a member of the Cardiff Education Committee.
