REPORTS from Rome and
various European countries indicate that the city will be packed as never before when Pope Pius X is beatified.
The ceremony, it is believed, will take place on June 3, the anniversary of the Pontiff's baptism.
His Holiness died on August 20, 1914, shortly after the beginning of the first World War.
Pilgrims will he going to Rome from most parts of the world. It has been suggested that the ceremony will he held in St. Peter's Square, in the presence of the Holy Father, who does not normally attend the reading of a beatification decree at St. Peter's.
A world congress of priests is being organised to coincide with the ceremony.
The decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites approving the beatification was read in the presence of the Holy Father on Sunday.
Two relatives of Pope Pius X have arrived in Italy from Brazil to attend the ceremony. They are Fr. Antonio Sarto and Mrs. Margherita Bertazzo Sarto.
