A STATEMENT FROM . THE DIRECTORS OF THE CATHOLIC HERALD R EPORTS

in some national newspapers last week concerning the resignation as editor of the CATHOLIC HERALD Of Count Michael de la Bedoyere were published out of their context. They were wrong in giving the impression that his resignation was the result of a disagreement with the Board on matters of broad editorial policy. There was no such disagreement. As editor, Count Michael de la Bedoyere had always full editorial control. The same freedom will be given to his successor, whose statement of policy appears in this week's editorial on page 4. We welcome the opportunity of publishing this week some of the tributes to Count Michael de la Bedoyere's work which have been sent in by readers. We are also glad that he is continuing his association with the"C.H." as a contributor. A column by him appears on page 4.
