NEW CHURCH FOR 2,400

WHEN Catholics moved into the new housing estate at Leant Lane, Felling-on-Tyne, six years ago. the only Mass Centre was a back-room of the "Black Bull" public-house. Later, a school was used.

But last week Bishop Cunningham , of Hexham and Newcastle blessed and opened a new £40,000 church, St, 'Augustine's, to serve this parish of 2,400 people.
