BRIDGETT Jones, five feet tall, weighing six stone, 10 lbs, age not stated, is cycling from Portsmouth to Lourdes, on a sponsored ride, starting 9 pm, on 18 May. It's partly to raise funds for her parish, St Dominic's Malden Road, for a Jumbulance, and partly for Our Lady of Lourdes hospital Mutomo in Kenya, run by the Sisters of Charity. Bridgett for Action Aid-Kenya cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats in June 1984, and collected £600 on that occasion.
She has firsthand knowledge of the medical care needs of the children at Mutomo Hospital since she visited it in January last year.
She was moved to undertake her project after seeing a young child with an untreated hare lip, who has now had a successful operation and can speak clearly.
If you want to help, send donations to the Catholic Building Society, 7 Strutton Ground, Westminster, London SWI for the Mutomo Hospital account.
