A YEAR or two ago a satiric " . fantasy appeared about grass getting the upper hand of humanity. NOW, in The Day of the Triffids, by John Wyndham (Michael Joseph, 10s. 6d.), it is an even more alarming form of vegetation endowed with the power of thought as well as locomotion and attack. To say more would,be to spoil for the reader a plot which is competently worked out and offers its pertinent moral most readably disguised.
